A centre for creativity and a special place to visit, work and live
The vision prepared by the partnership is one of continuing the long history of creativity and programme making at TVC whilst intoducing complementary uses.
- Retaining the BBC at TVC in refurbished studios for both continued television production and as a home for BBC Worldwide
- Opening up TVC and providing a new identity for the site as a centre for creativity, a public place, and a special place to live, work and visit
- Creating contemporary workspace accommodation
- Preserving the listed buildings - the famous Television Centre forecourt and façade, Studio 1 and the central Helios Plaza
- Turning a private place into a public one with cafes, restaurants and leisure facilities for the public – a very different visitor experience
- Stitching the site back into the local area with public access through to Hammersmith Park and to the surrounding communities
- Providing space for new jobs and employment opportunities
- Providing c.1000 new homes, including affordable homes and amenities
- Delivering on the objectives of the White City Opportunity Area in the Mayor’s London Plan
- Complementing other developments and the overall regeneration of the White City area
